About The Bird and The Botanist

The Bird:

The bird is one of nature's most intriguing creations and an animal that manages to thrive through all of the world's changes. Diving headlong into every project with utter conviction and excitement, the bird is the picture of nature at its most magical, most amazing best.

The Botanist:

One of mankind's first scientists. The botanist sought to study what nature gave us and harness and improve it. The botanist, a patient, thoughtful student, used the arts of calculation and discipline to create a new kind of magic.

What They Mean To Us:

It was clear from the beginning that we both have very different approaches to creating a garden. With equal amounts conviction we each dove into the challenge and promptly headed in very different directions. And some how, it worked just perfectly.

Glenn knew what he wanted: It took no more than a days time to make the decision and beginning digging out a plot wherever he could. Instinct lead him in the right direction from the start and has since proved his most valuable tool in creating a garden.

Miranda on the other hand looked at the challenge as a new assignment: while Glenn began digging through the dirt, Miranda began digging through her books. Careful measurements and patient study were the methods to her madness.

Thus, it was clear that they were to play very different, but equally important, roles in making the garden. Glenn, all instinct, conviction, and excitement, was the embodiment of nature's best creations, while Miranda, studious and calculating, a student and scientist.

On one hand, the Bird and the Botanist are simply the garden's creators; on the other, it is the garden itself: the organic, magical components that nature offers and the advancement, knowledge, and calculation that science lends. Nothing seemed more fitting for the little organic garden that two college students set forth to carve out on the edge of suburbia.
